9 Days’ Tour Itinerary to Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Lake Mburo National Parks

DAY ONE

Very early in the morning at 6:00 am depart from Jinja after breakfast for Murchison Falls National park. On the en-route, the bridge that links Eastern Uganda to the rest of the country and the Mighty Nile River shall be the first impression of our tour. An early departure – but well worth it! After breakfast, you are on your way North to Murchison Falls National Park having a break at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola to view the Rhinos. Uganda’s Rhinos became extinct in the early 1980s, after a period of civil unrest and heavy poaching. This sanctuary has now been established to breed black and white rhino, and restore Rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas in a later stage.
This is a long drive as you travel north through the country and once you reach the Nile in the heart of the Park, you will cross on the ferry to Paraa.

The sight of the Nile River, the world’s longest river, winding its way through the park and plunging through a narrow gap is unforgettable.
Overnight at Fort Murchison, Sambiya River Lodge or Red Chilli Rest Camp.

In the evening, after reaching the park, take a simple nature walk to the top of Murchison falls, it is the most outstanding attraction, a point where the waters of the Mighty Nile squeeze and pass majestically through a seven meter gorge to an whole same 45 meters plunge producing a thunderous roar and at times forming a beautiful rainbow. While there, expect to see monitor Lizards and the place offers a good view of Murchison falls and Uhuru falls. Get a chance of standing at a point where it rains throughout the year before returning to the Nile Safari Camp for dinner and overnight.

DAY TWO

At 6:00am, go for enthralling game drive in the Northern part of the park; enjoy the cool breeze on the ferry while crossing the Nile. Before stepping on Buligi site, expect to see the elephants, loins, buffalos and other wildlife. The game drive takes 2-3 hours. Return to Park arriving in time for Lunch at Nile Safari Camp.
 
In the afternoon, go for a Launch cruise to the base of the Majestic Falls. On the Enroute expect fascinating show of people languish on the sandbanks, Crocodile resting on riverside, baboons, and families of elephants traveling to the water source for a drink. A wide variety of bird species, the rare shoebill stock is a must to see.
From the bottom of the falls enjoy rest “devils caldron” for the evening forming air bubbles in the water to graze on its lush beaches. Don’t miss the expectants.Dinner and overnight at Nile Safaris camp.

DAY THREE

Very early in the morning at 6:00 am, get going on the day’s long journey from Murchison Falls National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Bugangu Wildlife Research Center, Hoima, Kyenjojo and Fort Portal. On the, Enroute make a stopover at the King’s palace, arriving at Queen Elizabeth National Park through Kabale-Toro gate. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari

DAY FOUR

Take on an early morning excursion to the Kasenyi area for a game drive, known as the Kob mating ground. Kasenyi offers great chances of spotting the lions as well. The area has great scenery and diverse physical landforms. Expect to see buffalos and elephants in the area as well. Return to Mweya Safari Lodge for breakfast.

-Visit the main Museum and relax while waiting for the afternoon Launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. The activities start from Mweya to L. Edward and coming back expect to see Hippos, being the highest Hippos demonstration in Africa, Elephants, Buffalos and brilliantly water site, birdlife. The Cruise takes 2-3 hours.

DAY FIVE

Take an excursion to Kyambura gorge for the 8:30 chimpanzee trekking. The Chimps are man’s closest “relatives”. The trekking takes 2-3hours but it an exciting activity.  Lunch break at the Mweya Safari.

-In the afternoon, go fro game drive in the Northern crater area, a place full of the lakes and reach grasslands, set deep into volcanic craters, the baboon cliff is a standing view point where the landscapes drops dramatically and one feels patched on the edge of the world. Expect to see flora and fauna, Kobs, elephants, lions, buffalos.

DAY SIX

After breakfast, get going on to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Isasha. The route offers higher chances of sporting elephants, Kobs and lots wildlife. The drive time from Mweya- Isasha is 5-7 hours. Make a stop over at Isasha, a home to the mysterious tree climbing lions. Take the northern park for the game drive. Look out in the fig tree branches for the rare cats. Isasha also offers great scenery. Carry on and travel to Buhoma via Kihihi- Kanyantorogo and Butogota and arrive at Buhoma park Headquarters late in the evening.

DAY SEVEN

After an early morning briefing by the UWA officials, go fro gorilla tracking subject to primate availability at the time of booking. Tracking gorillas through the impenetrable forest requires patience, endurance sometimes walking for long hours in the mid and rain. Time take taken and the terrain vary with the gorilla movements. Coming face to face with man’s shy “cousins” in the jungle is an inspiring moment. Carry with you bags and lunch.   Dinner and overnight at Kitandara Tented Camp

DAY EIGHT

Get going on the journey to Lake Mburo National Park via Kanungu, Rukungiri and Ntungamo towns. Arrive at the adequate hotel Agip hotel in Mbarara in time fro lunch break. Carry on and travel to Rwonyo park headquarters through the sanga gate re known fro zebras. Lake Mburo National park offers high chances spotting the Kobs, leopards, baboons, water backs, buffalos, hippos. Take a nature walk to the Sald Lake before returning for

DAY NINE

Midmorning after breakfast, checkout and get on to the leisurely journey back to Jinja via Nshara gate. Enroute make a stopover at the equator for photograph taking and get to know the changes in your body weight while at the place, and buy some snacks/lunch. Carry on and stop at Mpanga drum village and get a chance to buy locally made drums. Proceed to Jinja via Kampala arriving late in the evening.
